Indium foils, wires, pre-cuts and seals
Indium features a high ductility – under low pressure it adapts even to smallest irregularities of the base. This and its low tendency to embrittle (even at extremely low temperatures) makes indium wire a favoured sealing compound for cryo- (indium gaskets) and vacuum technology.
Materials which expand and contract differently (for instance copper and glass) can be bonded to indium wire thanks to its ductility. Thus these special requirements which are very common in the fields vacuum technology and cryotechnology can be met much better than with many other sealing materials.
The good thermal and electrical conductivity of indium combined with its ductility and its resulting ability to adapt to uneven surfaces make it an ideal transmitting medium in difficult surroundings. It adapts to uneven surfaces (e.g. laser crystals) increasing the contact area and thus heat transmission significantly.
Indium tends to cold welding: oxide-free foils stick together after certain time in contact with each other.
The low melting point of indium wire makes it suitable for temperature-sensitive aplications.

Purity
We usually supply indium foils with a purity of 99.99+%, thus offering the best compromise between low impurities and adequate hardness for rolling to an even thickness. This purity is also less sensitive to “pushing through” than ultra-pure qualities.
If necessary, we can also supply indium foils in the quality 99.999%.
Packing
In order to ensure that you receive our indium foils in perfect condition they are vacuum-packed, thus preventing mechanical and chemical damage to the foils.
Pre-cuts and custom made parts
Do our standard sizes not correspond to your requirements? Do you have specific demands with regard to the form of purity? In many cases we can supply custom-made parts in accordance with our customer specifications.

Purity
Usually our indium wire has a purity of 99.99 %, but we can also supply 99.999 % quality if required.
Packing
In order to ensure that you receive the product in perfect condition and without dents, we supply our indium wire on a spool in a plastic container.
Custom made
Other customer-specific diameters can also be supplied, although minimum quantities may apply.
